Before you register: build your binder — don’t just put documents anywhere

Set up your binder before generating or filling any documents
One binder holds all your documents — with clearly separated sections for educator documents and each child
Ready at all times for licensing officers to inspect
The agency binder must contain exactly the same documents, all forms signed and dated
Binders that do not match, or have unsigned or undated forms = non-compliance — directly affects your dayhome and the agency

Apply at alberta.ca/obtain-a-child-intervention-record-check
Use this exact wording: “I am applying to work with children for 14423160 Canada Foundation. Please send me the Child Intervention Record Check application form.”
Submit your completed intervention form to Child Intervention
Once returned to you signed by the Government — keep one signed copy and email one copy to us

From you

First Aid / CPR certificate — 3 year validity; if renewal is needed, certificate must still be valid with at least 6 months before it expires
Early Childhood Educator certification — Level 1 or higher
Three personal references (non-relatives)
Proof of age (18+)

All adults in the home (18+)

Email everything to us with

Each certification as its own separate file — do not combine into a single PDF (you may zip them together)
Your dayhome floor plan and fire evacuation plan

Use the Health & Safety checklist in Your documents below to prepare your home
Have ready: valid ID, your First Aid / CPR, and access to the rooms children will use
The consultant must meet each adult in the home at least once prior to contract signing
Once approved, you sign your contract and get set up

Post these before children start — where parents can see them — and keep them current
Alberta Family Day Home Standards require this information displayed in a clearly visible, prominent place
A “board” can simply be forms taped to a wall — no cork board or frames needed

Emergency contact numbers — 911, Poison Control, Health Link 811, and your after-hours agency contact (use the Emergency Numbers form below)
Emergency evacuation procedure & floor plan — your completed Fire Evacuation Plan and Floor Plan (below)
Each child’s allergies — using the Allergy Board Posting (below)
Each child’s medical conditions — using the Medical Board Posting (below)
Agency name, contact and licence information — using the Parent Board Posting Form (below)

Withdrawals: if a parent tells you first that their child is leaving, email jdmagency8@gmail.com at once so we can send the family the withdrawal form and guidance
Parents are required to give one month’s written notice — a $200 refundable security deposit is held against their contract and is forfeited if proper notice is not given. Do not agree to an earlier end date without contacting the agency first

Deducted monthly from your remittance based on active children in care.

Enter each child’s date of birth to check your ratios against Alberta maximums. Mark incoming children to see if adding them would breach limits.
